Vitamin B Shots

Why take B Vitamin shots?

There are eight B vitamins the body needs. B vitamin injections are helpful in a variety of conditions. Your body can’t make its own B12, so you have to obtain it from the foods you eat or through supplements. Foods that supply B12 are milk, eggs, meat, fish and poultry. For vegans and vegetarians, B12 supplementation is recommended as their diet often doesn’t represent a sufficient supply. Some grain products are fortified with B vitamins.

Health Benefits of B Vitamins

  • B vitamins are required for the replication of our DNA. As a result, they promote cell growth and maintain red blood cells.
  • They increase metabolism – as a result they help with fatigue and weight gain as you age.
  • They help the body to metabolize fatty acids – which also helps with weight loss.
  • They support the immune system and help in maintaining healthy skin, hair and nails.
  • B12 lowers homocysteine levels which is important in cardiac health.
  • Stress Depletes B Vitamins

The most frequent complaint people normally report is fatigue and stress — people are having to work longer hours and endure more stress in our society. The more active and demanding your schedule is, the more you deplete B vitamins in your body. People are often deficient and don’t know it. Burnout can result if you overwork and do not support the body with enough nutrients to meet those demands. B vitamins boost metabolism and the immune system. They may  help you prevent having a crash, getting severe fatigue or help you recover if you have reached that stage already. An important part of our evaluation process is testing for adrenal function. Read more about this in our diagnostic test section. People report more energy, better sleep and increased ability to handle stress from supplementing B vitamin injections.

    Absorption Problems

The absorption of B vitamins and B12 depend on the health of the intestinal tract. B12 absorption relies on the production of intrinsic factor produced by parietal cells in the stomach. If the cells are damaged or stop producing intrinsic factor, the body won’t absorb B12. Absorption is an issue with:
    • Elderly people that experience gastric atrophy which reduces their ability to absorb B12.
    • People with pernicious anemia lack intrinsic factor which is necessary to absorb B12.
    • People with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

    Symptoms of B Vitamin Deficiency

    • Fatigue
    • Weakness
    • Constipation
    • Poor memory
    • Confusion
    • Megaloblastic Anemia
    • Paresthesia – numbness or tingling in the hands and feet
    • Brittle nails
    • Difficulty concentrating

    Can you test for deficiency?

We use the NutrEval Test by Genova to look at the overall picture of nutrient deficiencies. Some insurance policies provide coverage for this test. Contact us for more details.

We provide the following B vitamin injections

  • B1 Thiamine – we have found this to be helpful in treating Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions as well as healing the harmful effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
  • B12 – methylcobalamin. There are three forms of B12.  Many doctors give cyanocobalamin which must be converted in the body to methylcobalamin, the more active form. It is used because it is inexpensive and stable but if is not very effective. It lasts for less than 24 hours in the body. We only use methylcobalalmin, as it is superior and has much better results. People often comment that they felt nothing from a shot with cyanocobalamin and then felt much more energy from the methyl-B.
  • B complex/B12 – this is a combination of 1/2 ml of B complex including B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and 1/2 ml of Methyl-B12.
  • Pyridoxine (B6) – is useful for fatigue, liver detoxification, depression and mood disorders.
  • Biotin (B7) – is mostly used to enhance hair growth and is combined with other shots or IVs (Myers cocktail).
  • Folic Acid (B9) –  is important for pregnant women to prevent neural tube defects in the developing baby. It is also helpful for fertility, enhancing brain function as well as cardiac health.
  • LipoB injection – a combination of MIC, B complex and methyl-B12.
  • Lipotone injection see our detailed page for ingredients: lipotone
  • MIC – is the “Lipo” part of the LipoB or Lipotone shot and can be given by itself to help the liver.
  • Conditions Treated with B Vitamins

Allergies, Bell’s Palsy, carpel tunnel, diabetic neuropathy, depression, eczema, fatigue, liver disease, high cholesterol, PMS, psoriasis and neurological disorders.
